On Addiction
sometimes the only reason you actually invite an addiction into your life is that your life feels very unreal; you wake up everyday thinking, “wow, i’m still here”, and having a very strong sense of unreality in your waking life; so addictions are like physical anchors to reality; you use them as tangible landmarks to get through the day; you say “only one more hour until i can do x”, even if x is not necessarily very appealing; it’s just something to DO; it’s not even a real “addiction” (you can only pray for one of these, to be honest, something you actually like enough, which makes life feel worth living or something you get peace or satisfaction from); but it’s just a psedo-psychological ploy around which to “live”, something to map out your “day” with, a way to keep busy, a way to keep from thinking…i think anyone plagued with mental problems can find some relief in doing actually anything physical, whether it’s exercising, having sex, having a tantrum, etc. - just an out-of-body experience to force you to feel a duality: that you are physically there and that your self is not

walaikum assalaam,
thanks
he im not that into forums - except my husband has one which i was active on a while back (not anymore) called islamic networking - but last time i checked it had degenerated and wasn’t being maintained (not even sure if you can post anymore)
aside from that, im not the person who could recommend a forum to you - even blogging lol i did because my husband had a blog site, but i was never an online person really and am randomly sporadic now - sorry i can’t recommend anything
as for arts, i didn’t formally study it (well, like in high school) but not college or above level - so i can’t really say - when i talk about art, i just mean i love art (as a patron or fan) and i do make art, but it’s very hacked (ie not formally trained etc.) - i guess i am bigger on ideas and stylization than on execution
sorry i am so useless :)

noooooooooo please dont say you are useless…this blog is evidence that you are intelligent and already i think of you as a person of high obedience and intelligence. You should be proud of your-self.
I used to be a member of reviving islam forum a long time ago (well 4 years ago to be exact hehe)…and now i want to get back into posting and reading useful stuff.
If you can ask the brother for me please to guide me then I would really appreciate it, my e-mail is:

Jazak’Allah khayr sis.

i’ll let the “intelligent” thing pass :) but let me say i am NOT highly obedient, not even obedient; by the way i know some people who inshallah are highly obedient, and even THEY wouldn’t be proud of themselves, so for me it’s out of the question
hmm i dont think my husband is a great person to ask that question to right now either - you might have better luck asking on islamic awakening itself or sunniforums or something
i will say that in general, although there are definitely useful things on the net, if you want this to be a consistent pursuit, go for live halaqas or classes with your brothers/sisters, at actual masaajid you can enter into and feel serenity, and you can’t go wrong studying the quran (especially in a very formalized way)
good luck, brother - may Allah guide you to what you seek…

Wow, that was very well put. Obvious, but if there was a way to put it in words, you really captured the moment. What drugs have you done before? Could you write one on pot?
November 26th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
i never did pot - the post applies to addictions in general

So what have you done previously that could allow you to write about it? I would LOVE to read those types of posts from you.

sorry, i don’t blog too often - and then only as it strikes me (i don’t usually try to write about anything in particular)
