i wanted to make the first comment and apologize - of course, this statement is not true for all times and places and is a completely sexist thing to say

fellas, please have a sense of humor about it - it’s just an observation that a lot of guys are motivated in so much of their actions by hooking up with a girl and as soon as he does, his behavior changes, which i think we’ve all seen

  2. Mr Moo Says:

Is this some coded way of trying to bring back the eunuchs?

  3. Omar Tufail Says:

Envy never was a good thing…

  4. fatimahye Says:

    mr. moo - god no
    omar tufail - ha ha

  5. WM Says:

“…and trust those without one even less”

By your own admission, men can be relied on to act a certain way- so we should reserve all our mistrust for women!

  6. Mr Moo Says:

May I offer an alternative these

“Women hope men will change after marriage but they don’t; men hope women won’t change but they do”
    Bettina Arndt, Private Lives, 1986

  7. fatimahye Says:

i knew this was coming :)

  8. AT Says:

Sadly, a lot of men do keep their brains in their trousers…

  9. sasjamal Says:

Whats wrong with that exactly -

    Sas

  10. fatimahye Says:

hey, i never said there was anything wrong with it - but the quote was like a “caveat emptor” (that’s “buyer beware” for you, sas) for the girls out there, a very stereotypical one, yes, but this fact still ends up surprising girls, who are generally dumb

  11. UmmZahra Says:

girls may be dumb, but women are smart. ;)

  12. Abu Z Says:

I find it uncomfortable why religious minded sisters would discuss the above quote with religious minded brothers. Should we not have a certain level of modesty in speech with each other. Modesty is not only about covering our awra. Please forgive me if I offended anyone as this is not my intention, but just a reminder to us all.

  13. fatimahye Says:

    assalaamu ‘alaikum,

i apologize - in islam, i know that sexual issues are discussed in a mature fashion; this was actually not a sexual issue but a gender issue (but since the language was blunt, it came off with more sexual overtones) which i dont think is forbidden to discuss

but i do thank you for your comment because it is true that often behind the “veil” of the internet, you tend to be more free than you would in the physical presence of the opposite gender

so jazaakallaahu khayran for your reminder

  14. UmmZahra Says:

Womyn should be careful dealing with men. Isn’t that what your saying? I thought this was a Naseeha for sisters to becareful around the menfolk? ;)

  15. fatimahye Says:

there’s a few angles, but yes, that’s the basic one :)

  16. Mohammad Says:

Thanks for starting an interesting debate. Whilst the language is a little blunt, it does successfully ask Men to account for their actions given their Responsibilities. These responsibilies do not merely come as a result of Testosterone and are not absolved by it either. Any Man thinking singularly with his testosterone shouldnt be trusted - which some would say causes temporary madness. Testosterone should be a tool - a vehicle - a horse - under the control of Man. Paradoxically, the inverse takes place and the Horse is actually riding the Man instead of the other way around.
Chivalry makes the man - testosterone helps in developing it - its a tool, not the goal.
